Student Researcher

Arista Marthyman is a 4th year Honors student at the University of Victoria in the Department of Sociology on the traditional territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. Since participating in the Phoenix Consultation as a youth speaker and promotional material developer with the David Suzuki Foundation, she has become increasingly concerned with the global lack of youth and child rights.  She is passionate about challenging ageism, working towards equity, and promoting global inclusion of children and youth in all decisions and structures that impact them.

Through her university program, she will be volunteering with IICRD to conduct participatory research to assess the impacts of the short film “We Are All Migrants” that is used in the Child Thrive program.

Stepping boldly into leading with children and youth to create a better future for us all.
