Shelley Jones is head of both the International Year One and the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies programs. Jones has over 20 years of teaching experience from primary school through graduate studies in a range of international contexts including Tanzania, Uganda, Japan, the United Kingdom and Canada. Her research is focused in the areas of gender, education and empowerment for girls and women in East Africa, Mother Tongue pedagogy and resource development, multimodality, and literacy. She has published extensively in these areas and presented at many international conferences. Jones is also passionate about global citizenship and experiential international education.
