I have spent the last two decades working in children’s rights with a focus on children’s participation in their protection. I am passionate about engaging children, youth, families and communities in imagining systemic change and working together to implement shared solutions. I use participatory research approaches to explore challenging situations together with young people and their intergenerational allies that help create sustainable solutions. Monitoring, evaluation and learning are an important component of this, empowering young people and their allies to track and learn from changes that take place as a result of our work together. With a special interest in young people’s wellbeing, I use art, play, and nature-based activities that reinforce young people’s connection with their own spirituality, culture and traditions. I live in the beautiful small town of Antigonish, Nova Scotia with my two little boys and my partner Julien.
