
My name is Doris M. Kakuru (she/her). I am affiliated with the University of Victoria as Associate Professor and Director (acting) at the school of Child and Youth Care. Before joining Uvic in 2020, I worked at Carleton University and prior to that, I worked as Associate professor in Child studies in Uganda. I am an interdisciplinary social scientist working on various themes in the broad area of children’s geographies and their bearing on social justice and child protection. I hold a PhD in social sciences (Wageningen University), MPhil in Social Anthropology (University of Bergen), and B.A in Sociology (Makerere University).
