All children need a caring, capable, and committed web of parents, peers, and practitioners to not only help them to survive – but to thrive in an increasingly complex world. Hundreds of people are working to support children to thrive in Victoria: parents, midwives/doctors, childcare providers, educators, librarians, youth groups, businesses, social workers and more! These people all play different roles in each child’s development.

The Child Thrive Action Forum will offer them a unique opportunity to interact in a meaningful way, as well as offering a space for young people to express their perspectives on what they need to thrive. A strong web of partnerships, including children themselves, can help young people to strengthen their capacities to reach their full potential as capable, active citizens. This will, in the long term, contribute to building healthy, vibrant, and resilient communities. In short, when children thrive, communities thrive.

Child Thrive, hosted by the International Institute for Child Rights and Development, is also part of an emerging city wide initiative to create a collective impact mandate for children and youth in Victoria. Outcomes from the forum, including the perspectives of young people, will feed into this collaborative initiative to support positive, long term change for Victoria’s children, youth and their families.
