Rebeccah Nelems is a senior evaluator, methodology expert and facilitator with 20 years of experience working in the international development, human rights and children’s rights sectors. She is passionate about designing and implementing innovative, participatory methodologies that create space for children, youth and community voices to be heard at the organizational, community, national and international level, in order to influence change in beliefs, practices, policies and capacities. She is also skilled in facilitating evidence-based, inter-institutional conversations about organizational visions, strategic objectives and theories of change. Equally at home working with small, community-based NGOs and UN agencies, Rebeccah has worked with over 30 organizations to enhance the effectiveness, relevance, capacity, and sustainability of their work with respect to child- (and community-) centred practice, gender equality, monitoring and evaluation, and evidence-based planning. Her current doctoral work at the University of Victoria is focused on participatory research with youth on their experience of empathy. Rebeccah lives in Victoria, BC, Canada, and has had the privilege of working with organizations on every world continent -- except Antarctica (as her son likes to remind her)!
