So, here we are with Venom 2 storming into cineplexes around the world. When can you book a seat to see what chaos Venom reigns down on poor Eddie? When, exactly, can you expect to see Carnage make his big screen debut? Is there a chance you can find it on some streaming platform or other? All answers lay below.
Amidst all of the do-the-right-thing heroes of the MCU, it’s nice that the superhero genre can have an oddball cousin in the form of Venom, with the popular anti-hero appearing in his second movie, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, releasing on Oct. 1.
A fan-favorite Spider-Man adversary who became his own brand of hero in the comic books was a bit of a surprise hero at the movies when Venom was released in 2018, earning $213.5 million dollars at the U.S. box office and more than $856 million worldwide. Critics weren’t particularly enamored with the film, but the fans embraced it, particularly Tom Hardy’s committed dual performance as Eddie Brock and the symbiote Venom.
The sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, gives the fans what they wanted, according to What to Watch’s review of the movie, amping up the wacky relationship between its central odd couple and leaning more into comedy to go along with the superhero action.
Not comfortable heading to the movie theaters at this time? That’s OK, but it does mean that you’ll have to wait for Venom: Let There Be Carnage to make its way to on-demand or streaming services. Again, that will likely be at least 45 days from the film’s release, which at the earliest would be around Nov. 15. Though there is no guarantee that it will be available to stream or rent at that time, and we have no indication as to what service it would be on as Sony, the studio behind Venom: Let There Be Carnage, does not have its own streaming service.
Speaking to TechRadar, a Netflix representative tells us that there’s no firm plan to stream Venom 2 for the moment, but that it “won’t be for a while” even if they do license the film for the service.
And it might not come to every region, either way. The first Venom film never came to Netflix in the US, but it did come to the UK, Australia, Canada, Iceland, and Turkey.
If you’re in one of those regions, you may get Venom 2 eventually, though we can’t say for certain it’ll end up there rather than another TV streaming service. Either way, as the movie, is still in theaters, and since it isn’t produced by Netflix itself, Venom 2 is not on the streaming platform just yet.
You’re likely looking at a wait of a few months before it’s available elsewhere. Sony Pictures is big on protecting theatrical exclusivity – that’s why the movie isn’t available to stream yet in any form.
Still, future movies in the series are far more likely to land on Netflix. Read on for more on why that is.
What is Venom: Let There Be Carnage About?
Investigative journalist Eddie Brock saves humanity from a possible existential threat by managing to foul Riot and Drake’s evil plans with Weying’s assistance. When he later returns to his old life, Weying believes that Venom died along with his adversaries in the brutal final confrontation. However, Eddie does not want anyone to know that he is still bonded to the alien symbiote and the two now together want to keep San Franciso safe.
Everything appears to be going great for him when he gets a career-defining opportunity to interview the notorious serial killer, Cletus Kasady. But the investigative journalist is taken aback when their conversation at the Ravencroft Institute suddenly turns hostile, and Kasady escapes the prison after issuing him a warning and transforming into the host of the symbiote, Carnage.
Now, Brock must stop the serial killer from executing his horrific plans and putting the lives of innocent people in danger.
Can I buy or rent Venom 2 anywhere?
Theatrical release aside, you can now watch Venom: Let There Be Carnage on Amazon Prime Video – and only in the US. It’s available in Ultra HD resolution, too.
You will need to pay $19.99 for the privilege, and it will likely be a similar story elsewhere as the film pops up on other movie marketplaces and online storefronts. That doesn’t preclude it being available to stream as part of a subscription elsewhere, though – which we go into in more detail below.
How to watch ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’
Venom: Let There Be Carnage will hope to be a box office hit similarly to what its predecessor was, though obviously expectations are slightly different at this point in time.
The sequel is going to be playing exclusively in theaters and is expected to follow at least the 45-day theatrical window that is becoming the industry standard. For anyone who wants to see Venom: Let There Be Carnage as soon as possible, this means needing to see where and when the film is playing at any of your area’s movie theaters.
Of course, we are still in a pandemic, so please be aware of your area’s health guidelines regarding masks and vaccination requirements for indoor gatherings to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for you and everyone else.
Whether this is your first of hopefully many trips back to the theater, or you’ve been taking advantage of the big screen’s return, doing some research on movie theater subscription deals can help make seeing the latest movies more affordable.

Where can you stream Venom 2 online from home?
Venom 2 is being talked about as being available for streaming from home or only opening in theaters. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to watch it anywhere. Only theaters will be able to see the Sony Pictures film. After its release on the big screen, it might be streamed on a streaming service.
Will Venom 2 be on a streaming service?
Venom 2 will not be on a streaming service at the same time that Venom 2 is playing in theaters. Sorry!
The first place Venom 2 will most likely go – though it’s not guaranteed – is Starz, due to a pre-existing deal with the premium cable network. The good news is that if Venom: Let There Be Carnage does go to Starz, most likely 6 to 9 months after it debuts in theaters (meaning March, 2022 to June, 2022), it will also be available on services like Hulu with the Starz add-on.

However, it is possible that Venom 2 will eventually be on Netflix, thanks to the recent deal Sony signed last month with Netflix that will send the 2022 Sony release to Netflix after those films release on PVOD, or premium-video-on-demand. Venom 2 is not a 2022 film, so it is not a guaranteed part of this “pay 1 window” deal with Netflix. (The “pay 1 window” is the period in which rights for a film are available to premium cable networks like Starz and HBO.) It may come to Netflix after the pay 1 window, but we don’t yet know.
Disney also recently made a deal with Sony to bring Spider-Man and other Marvel properties to Disney Plus after the movies released on Netflix-but again, that deal begins with Sony’s 2022 release slate, and Venom 2 will release in 2021. So, again, we’re not yet sure what this means for Venom 2, but your best bet is to either see it in theaters, or sign up for a Starz subscription some time next year.
When will Venom 2 be on Netflix?
Netflix has said it plans to license some other Sony films, too, but did not specify which ones. So while it’s possible you may see Venom 2 on Netflix after the “pay 1 window,” as of now, there is no official Netflix release date for it. You may want to make plans to see the movie in theaters if you don’t want to wait.
