Board Director

Taryn Danford brings more than 10 years of experience to IICRD through her work with nonprofits building programs, tools and curriculum as well as overseeing and managing complex teams and government relationships. She is particularly passionate about engaging in community-based learning and knowledge exchange activities. Taryn specializes in project management and grant writing, and has secured close to $5 million CAD in grants for non-profit organizations across BC, in the past few years. While currently the Director of Child, Youth and Family Services at the Adoptive Families Association of BC, Taryn’s first professional role was with IICRD as a program assistant. It was in this position that Taryn became aware of her all-encompassing passion for serving children and youth while creating meaningful and systemic change.

As a result of her role with IICRD, Taryn launched into a career working with and for non-profit organizations and has focused her work on supporting children, youth and families in resiliency and healing. She is beyond thrilled to return to IICRD to serve as a Director of the Board. Taryn is passionate about governance, and has formerly served two terms on the Adoptive Families Association of BC’s Board of Directors. Taryn has a Masters of Science in Gender, Development and Globalisation, from the London School of Economics. She is also currently completing her Human Resources certification through Simon Fraser University. She lives in Vancouver, BC.

Imagine a world where we build on the core strengths of children, their families, and communities, to create dignity, belonging, and justice for all.
